Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo hopes to lift the FIFA Ballon d'Or next month as he seeks to continually improve as a player.
The Portugal international has finished runner-up in the last two years to Argentina's Lionel Messi and the pair are again on the short-list, along with Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery.
The 28-year-old has been in blistering form for both club and country this term, scoring 34 goals in just 25 appearances, and he hopes to lift the trophy in Zurich on 13 January.
In comments reported by A Bola, Ronaldo is quoted as saying: "I always like to win, but I know that does not depend on me.
