“The Vampire Diaries” may have been on hiatus for the past few weeks, but the CW series is showing no signs of slowing down. A new promo video for episode 11, “500 Years of Solitude,”
has leaked online and is making it very clear that the Damon-Elena
breakup in the midseason finale definitely did happen … and the wounds
are still fresh!
For fans who have forgotten, episode 10, “Fifty Shades of Grayson,” concluded with Katherine collapsing of a heart attack and Damon breaking up with Elena. “I’m bad, Elena,” he tells his lover. “I’m bad for you … I’m choosing to let you go. I’m choosing to relieve you of having to defend me of every awful thing I’ve ever done.”
Elena is a fighter and definitely not ready to give up on her man, but Damon was certainly not playing around. When “The Vampire Diaries” picks up on Thursday, viewers will find the main story line being Katherine’s impending demise … but also the struggles of Damon and Elena’s breakup.
